Need Some Opinions...

Just got pulled over for no front plate and modified exhaust in LA, but the officer decided to give me a break and only do a fix-it for my front plate. I'm planning to get it signed off this week, but one thing I'm worried about is going to the CHP office with my current exhaust setup. I have headers, mid-pipe, and my HKS Hi-Power which is known to be notoriously loud. I still have my Borla laying around which is a lot quieter. Would you guys recommend me switching cat-backs before I get my ticket signed off just to play it safe, or am I over thinking the situation and should just go as is with my front plate mounted?

Never mind, signed it off with flying colors. The guy wasn't happy I zip-tied my plate, but he said that it's nothing new to him and just laughed about it. I made sure I reassured him that I was going to put the OEM mount on when it arrives in the mail.

Yes, they have to be mounted. You are luck that the Officer signed it off, when I got my ticket they were very strict about the mounting points.
1. It has to be secured with a screw to the bumper.
2. The spot should be 8 inches from the ground to the bottom of the license plate.

Luckily, the inspecting Officer did not carry a ruler and she literally pulled on my locense plate to make sure it was not zip-tied. Mine was inspected in Van Nuys. I bet, you probably went to the Chatsworth Court House where they're more relaxed?

I had a CHP officer sign mine off in Woodland Hills. I have to pay my dismissal fee in South Hill in LA though since the cop checked that specific location so unfortunately I can't do it at Chatsworth or Van Nuys. Luckily, I don't have to have it inspected in one of those court houses since it has already been corrected so I just need to pay that damn fee now.
