Happy New Owner!
Hi all, proud new owner owner of an 04 Winning Blue from ol'blighty. Been reading the forums for advice and background before purchasing, and now I find myself with an example with 38k on the clock for £2500.
It's an awesomely sweet thing and I think I'm in love. No trouble starting, a touch bouncy on idle once warm but I've just got in from cleaning the MAF, and if that doesn't fix it I'll give the grounding a once-over. New ignition stuff is on my to-do too
Following the new owner's thread is a god-send! I seem to have picked up the auto-level error too so will have to try and re-build those sensors.
Just like to say that the community and depth of knowledge the car has generated is inspiring and was genuinely an influential factor in my decision to purchase, and I look forwards to leeching as much info as I can, and hopefully eventually putting some back in!

Hello Ninja-7, welcome to the site and congratulations on finding your car.
Don't wait too long to do the ignition work. It will ruin your fun when you have troubles with that. The bouncing idle could also be the neutral switch on the manual transmission. It's on the right side and gets hot being near the catalytic converter. It's a little difficult to replace. I cut a slot in a socket, for the wires, to do the install.

Also cleaning the MAF does seem to have gone a long way to smoothing the idle. Grounding points are still to be done, although I did give the battery neg a healthy dose of contact cleaner too.

sounds like you found the $100 thread. While cleaning stuff, hit the ESS sensor as well. It will make a difference.
For the grounds, some are trying simply using star washers under the existing ones to ensure a good connection. If I did it again, that is what I would do.
