WHY!? (Misfire)

Take a listen.

I don't know the right questions. I need your help to find them, and to cure my baby from this terrible cough. This is really making me sad.

I'd pull the codes and see what you have going on. I had similar mileage (140k) and my air solenoid valve was stuck shut, causing me to get some misfires and eventually led to a clogged cat. Drive easy until you diagnose and fix the problem. When were your plugs/coils/wires changed last?

The flashing CEL only occurs when it's P0300, P0301, or P0302. Pull the codes anyway to make sure there isn't something else going on in addition to the misfires, but this is the thread you need: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...t-here-222280/

Thank you both. I had my plugs/coils/wires replaced a little less than a year ago. It only recently started doing this again. I was afraid my coils got dirty from all oil. (I'm also dripping oil from in between my front tires)

Coils getting oil on them shouldn't affect them at all.

I'm serious about that link though, start going through one item at a time. Leaking oil isn't good. It may be related, and it may not. You need to locate where the leak is coming from.

Sounds like your oil cooler lines could be leaking, but I doubt that's related to your misfires.

Maybe jumping the gun, but here are the codes for the solenoids we're talking about:
P0076 or P0077- SSV Solenoid
P2259 or P2260- Air Solenoid
P0076 or P0077- VDI Solenoid

Kozy, be aware you have a VDI code(bottom of the 3), not the SSV.

In your post you have it listed as ssv and vdi. Im gonna check all the solenoids in there while im at it. Coincidentally, my ssv actuator arm sometimes ticks (when the car runs like it does in this video, but the SSV is NOT stuck [i have verified this myself]) which I believe is a good indication that my ssv solenoid is causing the problems... But who knows, maybe its both the ssv and vdi. we will find out and i will report back!
