We're moving from the east coast to Portland OR this year, and I'm planning to bring my beloved RX8 with us. I'm curious if there are any RX8 owners in Portland. I've only seen one driving around on all of our trips there. I hope I won't be the only RX8 in town!

 

Hey, im not from portland, but im from vancouver. So thats fairly close! Ive seen a couple rx8s driving around town, none as nice as mine though... haha

There are a few I've met in Portland, but I know more in Vancouver.

I run the PDX meets over at MazdasNW.com, but there are only 2 of us active currently (in PDX).

 

Thanks guys! Its nice to know I won't be the absolutely only RX8 I Portland, but it sounds like one of just a very few (Vancouver is close enough, just across the bridge).

I've heard about eco-terrorists in Portland slashing tires of SUVs and other cars, I hope they don't pick on RX8's for not being fuel efficient enough...

 

I actually saw an RX-8 parked near me in N. Portland on Monday. But they may have been only visiting, like myself.

Seems like a lot of us are in Vancouver, or Beaverton, or somewhere just outside of Portland. I've seen several other RX-8's in the last couple weeks, just not many are on the forums.

 

They only pick on suvs top gear did a test came to the "eco - people" in a aston martin they completely ignored it lol

 

I bought my 8 in Portland (Beaverton actually). Would love to move back there but I'm 400 miles away at the moment.

 

Several 8s in the area but only a few go to meets. It has died down quite a bit the last 2 years. Be good to get another meet/drives going.

Hey! I'm also from vancouver just got my 8 a couple months ago. Trying to find some people to do drives and meets.

 

Deminic and I still meet up in Vancouver. We just got back from the Vegas meet. We really don't post up on MazdasNW that much anymore since no one else was coming out.

I live in downtown PDX, I'm down for meets are hitting the road!

 

Isn't it a rule in Portland that only 1 RX8 is allowed on the road at any given time? Never see another 8 when I'm driving mine. When I'm in my Mazda2 (figured fuel economy of my 2 offsets the lack of it with my 8), I never see more than 1 RX8 at a time when I do see them.

 

So we finally moved to Portland last month and brought my beloved RX8 with us. I rarely see any others on the roads.

Would anyone be interested in meeting at the Cars & Coffee? There seem to be two different ones on Saturday. Last week I went to the one near the PDX airport, very friendly and nice group of people, mostly American muscle/pony cars (lots of Challengers). Don't know what the C&C near Lake Oswego is like, though a few people commented it was mostly 'higher end' imported cars (Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini).

I think a few RX8's at one of these C&C's would be fun. Anyone interested?

I went to Cars & Coffee Tigard yesterday, a blast with a couple of hundred cars - and not a single Mazda of any kind. Don't PNWers like Wankels?

 

Still plenty of 8s. Just less rolling during the winter.
