rattly mirrors

Is this a common problem with these cars? When I shut my doors it sounds like im slamming them because the painted cover on the mirrors joggles. Is there a way to fix this? You guys know what I mean?

No, not common. At least, I don't think i have seen another complaint about that in the last 6 years. I imagine replacing the mirrors (probably easiest to find on a partout here), or disassembling them and figuring out what broke are the two options.

not the answer I was looking for, but I'll have to investigate a little better. Even if I jiggle it with my hand it moves a tad and makes the noise. It doesnt move much, but enough to sound like a POS when I shut my doors. maybe a dab of super glue will help!

i think if you look into the assembly and make sure everything is properly tightened down. my mirror covers rattle a bit with the stereo but i havent gotten around to finding out why and fixing it

The attached pdf file is for installing puddle lamps, but you can use this as a guide to get in there and see what's going on. Maybe they were taken off at one time and not put back on correctly?

Okay, my guess here is that one or maybe more than one of the retaining clips(see number 5 and 6 in attached pdf) are busted or not properly secure. Then check out #23 if the whole damn mirror is rattling, but then you have to go through most of the steps to get at these three screws. Just ignore the parts about the puddle lamps and wiring of the puddle lamps.

Hope it helps.

Most likely it is just the painted mirror covers. Mine did the same thing.

Simple fix: Go get a roll of body double sided tape. Attach a few spots to the mirror bodies themselves where the tape will touch the mirror cover when you put bit back on. Mine hasn't rattled in 5 years once I did that.
