Just did a search on the board and figured I would ask this… Has anyone seen a Ferrari style swinging door kit out there that you could use with a RX-8? I can see this being a flame topic with all the voiding the warrantee and copycat style stuff. So please do not flame… it’s only a question. I personally think it would look good on this car. I always loved the swing up door designs. Thanks…

Are you talking gull wing doors that swing to the side an up, hinged at the top or those simply hindged at the same spot as regular doors but go up? If it's the second, you want to search for Lambo doors.

i hope the back door works ok with the lambo doors cuz if not, its no good unless your showing your car off all the time
veilside version 2 bodykit uses the lambo doors, im not sure if they give you the hinge when you order the kit i doubt it,
i think they just did the lambo doors for the auto salon

If you get a Lambo door kit it should still latch like factory.
The door "should" swing out until it is to the point it can swing up then swing up. Should is because a riced civic using a "any make any model" kit might not work like this.

I think that lambo doors would look good on the 8, plus with the suicide doors you would have no normal doors.

Autoloc sells for some 2.3k automated lambo door kits.

However would it fit on rx8? Would there be leakage? Any defects? Will it just work perfect?

 

we has suicide doors no need for lambo doors...

soon there will mod kits out to convert the back doors to RX Style Doors watch.. actually ive seen this done on a WRX somewhere

I think they look terrific, just finding a high quality kit is the problem most people will run into.
