Front strut Top Nut

So I've searched everywhere looking for the size of the top nut on the front strut (keeps everything together, screws onto the top of the strut rod) and I can't find it. I know what socket fits, I need to find the thread pitch (m12x1.5, etc.). Any help?

Do you have the shock out? If so just take it up to Fastenal (or wherever) and get an appropriately rated and sized lock nut. I have a million laying around but I have no way of telling you the exact size and thread pitch.

That's my problem... The idiot that owned the car before me obviously did some stupid things to the car and split the top of the shock (where the hex key hole is), so I can't get the nut off, so i bought a new shock and plan on just cutting the top nut off the old one. I just need a new top nut. I guess I'll just buy one for $16 from Mazmart.
