Is my 8 fixing itself?..

Alright so I just got a 2007 rx8 a couple weeks ago and it had a flashing cel and after a while it goes solid when idle but still flashed when I'd drive.

I replaced the coils, wires and plugs. After I did this it was worse! I mean.. CEL just wouldn't stop flashing ever!

Now, a few days later, it's much better. It only flashes every once in a while and it seems to flash less frequent as I drive it more. What's going on??

Misfires are caused by more than just failing ignition. Have you gone through the Misfire thread? Link is in my sig if not.

Just because it's flashing less frequently doesn't mean that it's fixing itself. It's still misfiring, and it's still something you have to fix. If you have a cat on, you are probably clogging the hell out of it which in and of itself can cause further misfires and if ignored will lead to engine damage and eventually a car fire. No, I'm not exaggerating. Seriously, don't ignore this, you are killing you car.

You probably have a coil, spark plug or spark plug wire that is not secured.

I can't see signatures because I'm on iPhone my wireless router isn't working so I can't go on computer to check it.

Now first of all theres nothing loose. Everything is secure and installed correctly. I've checked a hundred times.

Let me ask you this then.. Is it possible that the cat was clogged and by driving it hard like I've been doing has cleared it up? I just bought it from a dealer and it was sitting for a bit.

For example.. My cel only flashed once today on the drive home! Compared to constant flashing last month when I got it? Sounds to me like it's fixing itself! I'm sure it helped that I put the new coils plugs and wires though.

You aren't getting what I'm saying. Misfiring AT ALL, even 1 flash a trip, is damaging things. This isn't "getting better". The ECU is simply starting to figure that it's normal for you to be damaging your engine, and is slowly not warning you any longer since your misfires are being averaged into the "normal" operation of the car.

YOU HAVE TO GET THIS FIXED.
