Installed the Agency Power exhaust system and it's decided to melt the exhaust caps that are clipped to the bumper...anybody else having this issue? Anybody found a solution to not looking like a hood rat with plastics removed? Better yet...how the hell am I supposed to clean all of this off?

 

As far as cleaning it off ... go drive around hard and get the tips heated up, then come back and you should be able to get the plastic off with a terry cloth.

 

Common issue with non cooled single wall tips, you should have searched. Most decent setups tips are dual walled and revere cooled, so as you drive air is forced between the two layers of metal to cool the tips from the back.

 

So drive it like I stole it..check

I did minimal research on the system before I ordered it but I saw 1, maybe 2 mentions of it melting the plastic this badly..

 

Yeah the other problem with single wall tips and the AP specifically is that the tips overheat and look like **** after 6 months. I have never been fan of the AP, the system just looks cheap.

 

As far as the look now (about 2/3 weeks installed)..I do love the burnt tips poking past the bumper but have noticed the abundance of heat generated from them..system sounds and performs great..just the heat is my issue right now

What system are you currently using?

 

The problem is the burnt tip look is mostly gone after 6 months or so on the AP. The entire tips turn a nasty gold color so the effect is gone. Several local guys have had this exhaust over the years. I am running the Turbo XS catback, I have had it for years and the tips look great. That is the same though for the Borla and most of the other decent exhaust systems on the market. I used to have the HKS Hi-power with the single walled ti tip and even with constant care the tip didn't stay pristine.

You could always have new tips welded on that are dual walled and cooled, you can get them many places, like Magnaflow, etc.

All that is required is to cut a gap between the exhaust tip and the bumper exhaust shroud with something like a Dremel tool. Once you create a one inch or greater gap between the tip and the shroud, you shouldn't have a problem any more.

I saw those on RotaryFX..just never could find out if it was going to be heat resistant..or if I caot with a heat paint..if that would work...ideas?

 

looks like this system was installed practically touching the shrouds, I spent alot of time getting the hangers bent the way I wanted to get the tips to hang centered. I also painted my shrouds with ryno lyner.

I love my agency power, and with some car and polish you can keep the burnt tip look for many years.

that being said I to have thought about welding on new tips.

 

I assumed the hangers could be bent more to center the tips..just never really thought of doing it. I assume ryno lyner is a heat paint?

 

Rhino Liner is for lining pickup truck beds. It is a tough hot spray on coating. I have no idea how it would handle heat.

 

scratch that..I'm no F150..I know home depot sells a heat resistant paint up to 2000 degrees for painting old wood stoves and what now..maybe I'll go that route

 

Your exhaust had to have been touching the shrouds. I just installed a TurboXS cat-back (4") and they sit perfectly in the middle and have no problems so far. I would try to re-adjust your exhaust so the tips are centered perfectly.

 

Those parts will be easy to find at a junk yard

Just to note, the Mazdaspeed dual canister catback doesn't have this problem either as it has dual-walled and cooled exhaust tips.

My experience with Agency Power (used to own their midpipe) is you get what you pay for. My 8 sounded like **** with that thing!
