Water Temp Gauge Issue
I just finished installing the RB gauge pod and used a set of Autometer Cobalt short sweep electric gauges. I used teflon tape on the threads but left some exposed where the sending units are self grounding. All the values are normal ranges for oil pressure, temp and water temp except when I accelerate, brake or shift. The water temp gauge will go erratic. It will drop down to 10 degrees, bounce around anywhere up 180 and eventually stabalize at 180. Would it be fair to assume this is a vibration issue? Should I perhaps try to ground the sending unit to the body of the car?
I should clarify that it only seems to go erratic on high RPM shifts, hard acceleration etc. If I drive moderately with smooth shifting it sits around the 180 mark like it should. The oil sensors are mounted to the RB sandwich plate which is firm in place. The water temp sensor is just connected to the RB adapter which moves somewhat freely.
Yeah still going with a bad gauge. Seems like the needle has backlash. Simple test.
