I have a 2008 RX8 and I noticed that while I'm driving that the drive seems to be a bit bouncy. Every single bump on the road makes the car bounce and sometimes I can feel it on a flat surface. I already took it to the dealership and they told me that it was normal, but personally I don't think it is. They probably just didn't want to do the job, but anyways does anybody have an idea why it does that? I find it really annoying when I'm driving and I would really love to have a smoother ride. Any advice or suggestions on which part to replace?

Also another issue that I'm having with the car is that it tends to vibrate a lot when I'm at a stop sign. I think it might have to do with the air conditioning because when the air conditioning kicks in the car shakes. Does anybody have any idea what is happening?

Any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Do I need to replace my shocks and struts? If so, do you recommend a certain brand? I want a smoother ride.

If a part is failing, then generally yes, you should replace it.

I can't provide opinions on what you would like, because I'm not you. Start reading stickies and threads in the suspension subforum to learn about your options.

In regards to bouncing/rough ride: Do you know if the car has stock suspension, or if it has adjustable coilovers installed? A high spring rate or preload, or high setting on the dampeners can create a rough ride.

Are the wheels and tires the stock size? A lower profile sidewall can feel like rough riding.

Have you checked air pressure? Some people set the air pressure high on purpose for better gas mileage but the compromise is a rough ride. I know for sure you can set the pressures at 50 psi and the TPMS will not warn you.

Finally, what car did you come from before the 8? If you drove a Cadillac before then the 8 will feel much stiffer riding even when all factors are correct.
