Ive just recently bought a 2004 rx8 231.
Car has been running fine, but today i drove into the town centre and left it for an hour.
When i got back as i was turning the car over it made a click sound and stopped.
I left it for a few mins.
When i tried again it just made one click.
Got it towed back and took the starter off and tested it.
Starter spins up quickly.
Put it back in and tried again.
This time i got a click then a 2 second delay followed by another click, so on so on.
On of the battery terminals is quite loose.
My mate said maybe your battery is dead now, so we used a jump back.
It started to turn over bit the turn over speed went up and down.

I though maybe its the terminal.
Used some metal to make it tighter, tried to start it and now its just clicking once followed by a delay then click....

Completely lost and have no idea whats going on.
Any ideas

 

Fully recharge or get a new battery. Tighten the cables really well and try again. If your battery is to weak to turn the starter over and you have crappy booster cables you have to let it sit for a few minutes before attempting to start. Best bet is to have the battery tested and recharge or replace if necessary.

 

Starter pack is made by snap on.
Even tried disconnecting leads from battery and connecting straight to starter pack and even jump leads from another car to mine

 

Would a flooded engine stop it from attempting to turn over

 

No, the engine still turns over when it's flooded. It just isn't sparking.

Your symptoms are of a drained battery, dead battery, or bad battery connections.

Disconnect the battery terminals completely, clean both the posts and the clamps completely, then reconnect the terminals. Make sure they are seated firmly. If they currently have corrosion between the clamp and the post (which happens pretty often), then tightening the clamps isn't going to make a better connection.

 

Tried that as well.
Made sure all terminals etc...
Were scrapped and cleaned
