rx8 squeek

I just got muy rx8, absolutely love it, apart from the fuel economy, its 2004 with 25000 miles runs great starts hot and cold with no problem, only thing is that between 3-4k revs it slightly sqeeks almost like a bird tweeting, dont seem to effect any performance but slightly anoying anyone know what this could be?

when I brought the car I made sure I budgeted so I could get some coils leads and plugs which I have now, ive booked it in for a sevice with mazda, the car has 25000 miles (very low) and has no issues with starting hot or cold, should I get these fitted with the service or wait another 5000 miles? any advice? cheers everyone

Any way you can narrow down where the squeeking is coming from? cabin / hood / rear/ floor / etc

More than likely belt squeal. go to your local autozone and at the register they have 'belt dressing' for like 99 cents. condition the belts and see if hte squeak goes away

I found the dressing and have ordered it so will have it in a couple of days, this might sound stupid but how do I use it, is it a simple thing to do or do I need to take the belt off?

simple, you dont need to remove the belt. The way i usually do it is to put some dressing on a shop towel. and while the car is idling, carefully touch the towel to the accessory belt's bottom side (the side that makes contact with the pulley.

You could just shut the car off and apply it that way too, but the method above allows for even application and a very light application (you really dont need to use all that much).
