engine swap questions

Hi guys,

it seems like I can't post to any other forum, so I'll try here.

Seems like I could get a 2006 low mileage engine quite cheaply, so I thought I would put it in my 2004 RX-8, so I have a few questions:
- what else apart from the engine itself should I get? I was thinking trans, alternator, all the cables - do I also need the new ECU, or anything else worth taking?
- are the engine mounts the same between 2004 and 2006?

DO you know where I could find some more information on the differences of a 2004 and 2006?

I already saw the engine removal thread, so I think I should be able to handle it.

best regards,
D.

What transmission do you have in your RX-8?

If it's a manual transmission, then the engine will swap right in without problems, because the 2004-2005 MT engine and all 2006-2008 engines are identical. The automatic transmission equipped 2004 and 2005 RX-8s are the ones with the different engine.

Take a look at the newbies guide to modding thread. I have some references for the 4-port to 6-port swap in there that you should look through.
