245/40/19 20mm = scrape

well I installed 20mm spacers all around and I've installed previously 245/40/19 tires,m and the rear is scraping at about 1/4 on the tires contact surface (in the rear)

ill have to ply the inner lip a bit ,

for the front I had installed 245/35/19 (was planning to install 245/40/19 eventually, but I think this will be stop short) the edge of the tire is touching the inner fender towards the back when the wheels are turned about 45o, if it was only that I wouldn't mind, but there's a frame behind it and its all squeezed tight when parked (hard to imagine if id hit a bump with that angle how much pressure it would apply)

anyways, 245/40/19 is too big with 20mm spacers without minor mods lol

You have much to learn about fitment. Whether you rub tire or not depends on many things. Wheels specs, tire size and brand, shocks, coil stiffness, etc. Start reading the "how to choose wheels" thread, then go to the "will it fit" thread.

stock r3 wheels and s-tech spring (1.5 drop)

and the rear is scraping only on bumps, and front only when wheel turned half way

Im just posting for other memebers who might have tought going the same direction as me

You do realize that tire size is almost an inch taller than stock, right? That tire is huge.

Well, ok so you have S-techs, but the condition of the shocks also determines ride height. But, if your suspension is good then you are still running too much tire IMO and either way you will rub due to the bounce and progressive rate springs. Trying to fit wheels without an adjustable suspension is kind of dumb in my opinion anyway. Been there, done that.

did I ask any questions, I was just posting for information, alot are putting 20mm spacers on stock wheel but with stock tire size, if you but my size you will rub, plain and simple.

A 245/40R18 and a 245/40R19 are significantly different in size.

You only rub because of your suspension, not the tires or wheels. Running a 19 x 8 +30 (where you are now) with that tire is easy with coilovers. My rears are 19 x 9.5 +27 with a 255/35-19.

I've got a 2009 Touring - Eibach 20mm spacers - R3 wheels. Bilstein PSS9s

When I switched to Hankook V12 245/35-19 I got some slight rubbing in the right rear from the new tires. I was about to have the fenders rolled but then it looks like it stopped rubbing/wore out just enough. I still keep an eye on the rears though.

The numbers on a tire are a rough estimate between various brands, some tires run larger than others even though they may be listed as the same size. The PSS9's are a pretty soft spring rate.

Has anyone run 245/40/19 on the stock R3 geometry? (no spacers, no drop, stock 19s or similar offsets).

I'm going to need to make a switch to new rubber soon and given the impending SCCA "stock" changes I want to get top performance w/ a 200 wear rating. I know the RS-3 is claiming that its the same compound and should meet regs but I'm running on a budget and dont want to deal with the "is it 140/180 or 200" issue should it come up.

Ideally I'm looking at the Direzza ZII but, getting back to my non-thread-jacking point....its only available in (pertinent sizes) 245/40/19.

I'm also open to other suggestions if someone has them, I've previously run (on a dropped 04) some unfortunate staggered 19 Yoko S-Drives, 225/45/18 Bridgestone RE040s, 225/40/18 Nexen n3000 (or whatever they call them), 225/45/18 Ventus V12s, 245/40/18 Star Specs and on a stock 2010 R3 I'm currently on the stock 225/40/19 RE050As.

245/40-19 will work fine on a stock R3. But you may want to check the measurements of the stock wheel/tire versus the Direzza's in that size, a 245/35-19 may work better.

Yeah I'd prefer 35 but the ZII doesn't appear to be available as such (z101 being a different lower performance tire)

I've got some slight rubbing with 20mm spacers. Rubbing on the front driver's side at full lock turning right. The tire is making contact with the front spash guard behind the oil cooler. I'm still deciding what to do with it but it hasn't been a problem so far.

For documentation's sake:

Lowered on Bilstein PSS9s
Front height: 60cm from bottom of rim (not tire) to fender
Rear height: 61cm from bottom of rim to fender

245/35r19 Continental ExtremeContact DW

Alignment is currently at:

Driver Front: -2.9
Passenger Front: -2.7

Driver Rear: -2.5
Passenger Rear: -2.5

Alignment isn't ideal as there's a seized lower control arm bolt. Will correct in the future.
