Dropped a 12mm socket down the hole in the bottom of the battery box

Do I keep trying to fish it out, pushing it further god knows where? Or should I just buy a new 12mm socket and trust that it will safely find it's way down to the road someday?

hehe, the hole just dumps out right behind teh bumper. All it is, is a vent for the battery. If you push it all the way through it will fall through and either land on the ground or on the under tray.

That wasn't quite the word I used as I watched it fall but It did involve a higher power.

I forced one of the rubber grommets from the air cleaner thru, and it landed on the radiator. I fished it out barely with a grabber tool. I don't know if the socket fell on the radiator, but I think I would want to be sure it didn't.

I think if you pull a few more bolts, you can get the box out, and then shake the socket out.

Frig i did that too last month and i was trying like hell to NOT do that, although i think i dropped the other side. I ended up unbolting everything i could to try and find it and eventually did. It fell forward and over into the steering rack area and would have caused massive mayhem im sure if i hadn't fished it out.

Ill look for an eternity to find a dropped nut, socket or whatever. I go foil hat paranoid when i can't find something i dropped. I know the one time i say **** it is the one time that socket gets flung up on the highway into the belts and ends up shooting a hole in the engine housing.
