Air filter suggestions?

people will bash the k&n filter all day long.
that was one of the first things i did to my car. and it survived 4 years in the dust bowl known as lubbock, TX.
nothing wrong with a k&n. my car is fine. I clean it once every 6 months or so.

Correct, a K&N filter will not destroy your engine. It's sand (or other fine particles) getting into the engine that will destroy it.
Taking the risk to possibly let that happen is just that, a risk. Zero guarantee that it will occur, or that it won't occur. Environmental conditions can easily raise or lower that risk. Daytona has quite a bit more sand flying around than Lubbock, for example.
If you are fine with that risk then have at it. Just don't assume that everyone else is also willing to take that risk.

not bashing the product at all.... just stating the fact that it's filtration is not as good as the oem paper filter...

and i currently live in fwb in the florida panhandle. lots of very fine beach sand.

My 8 come with K@N with i bought it.
I'm switching back to stock paper filter because there were some piece of crap stuck in the filter screen that a simple spray of cleaning solution can't remove it..
plus those over spray of oil.. I always spray too much oil (Its improving tho) that i have to clean again my air filter box..
+1 with the Risk.

I've used K&N in all bar one of my cars including a show/track car, never had any problem with them at all. The induction kits on the other hand, that's a car by car selection IMHO. Then again we don't have Sand Storms here in Wales in UK lol That picture is amazing lol
K&N allows more dirt and junk into your engine than an OEM filter does. It's not even debatable. More dirt in your engine is bad and the Renesis engine doesn't need any more help killing itself. There really is no logical reason to run anything other than a good WIX oem replacement filter. If I could run on one my turbo setup I would.

9k's comment was after when i made my first comment. I know K&N filters are top notch filters, but when i read 9k's comment, i never knew it will do that, and i'm not really saying that i believe him 100%, but i will take his comment like a cautious thing. I still could get K&N filter if i want to, but i will take his comment as a consideration.

K&N's are great in some applications and i love the clean and reuse aspect, but for the 8 i believe their just trading off their name to sell filters.
K&N filter media, regardless of it's form.
The drop-in is just worse filtration using the stock air flow path, net gain is +1whp and some sand.
The Typhoon is worse filtration plus unstable airflow across the MAF, CELs, idle trouble, and peak power loss. -10-20whp and plus some sand.
