Louisiana is No. 1 -- but not in a desirable way. It has the highest average car insurance rates in the nation, followed by Michigan and Georgia, according to Insure.com's annual state-by-state comparison of insurance premiums.
Maine enjoys the least expensive car insurance rates, followed by Iowa.

Interesting. Unfortunately it's very vague by state, because insurance premiums vary significantly by city.
With that said... Sucks owning a car in the city that has one of the highest (if not the highest) insurance rate in the country

Not much better here where half the people drive without insurance. Uninsured motorist coverage is essential here. You would e crazy to drive without it in this state.
