Hey guys,

I have been hearing a strange noise coming from my car(2005 RX8 GT, 6 Speed Manual), and I am unsure whether it is normal or not. It sounds as if it is a small bell or whistle.

- Engine compression is good.
- Oil has just been topped off (change upcoming in 2,000KM)
- Coils/Plugs/Wires are in need of a change and that is happening within the next week.

Another question I had is this noise coming from the vehicle after it has been turned off, it is a constant noise, and then turns off on its on after 20 seconds or so. I am assuming it is simply part of the cooling system.

I had the same noise on my engine I would see if it's still there after you replace the coils wires and plugs

Reviving this thread.

I wanted to say that this problem is still persisting, but I found out that whenever I apply pressure onto the clutch pedal, the whistling sound goes away. I plan on visiting the dealership in a few days to get it all checked out.

Any suggestions?

 

Does the sound increase when you increase rev's ? It's a long shot, you don't have a frayed serpentine belt ?

 

The sound begins to whistle/chirp faster as I rev higher, although once high enough you can't notice the sound.
