Mazda iPod kit

Has anybody with navigation used Mazda's iPod integration kit? They're saying that I need both the C9F5-V6-029 AND TD91-79-CVZA. One is supposedly the installation kit, but I can't tell from the website. That would be about 3 bills before any installation costs. This seems ridiculous to me.

I want control through the head unit as well. Plus, I get a TON of engine noise through the aux port. It sounds like I have a supercharger when I'm using my aux input.

Got all my music on an SDcard and it lives in the glovebox out of the way. Took 5 mins to fit!

FYI, Mazda released a TSB for this. The dealer will fix it. Just a FYI.

Huh... I'm on the "MyMazda" site and they haven't said anything about it. So they'll take away that whine coming through my aux? Is there a link to the announcement or anything like that?

No it basically says don't use the charger at the same time or install an aftermarket ground loop isolator.

Suitable for the following radio models:
...
RX-8 2004-2006
...

I thought we're in S2 specific subforum.

Btw, any update on this? Is it C9F5-V6-029 or TD91-79-CVZA? I got a 2010 and also wants to have an ipod kit for my car so I can use the steering wheel control to change the music track.

I have a Bluetooth adapter that connects to the iPod 30 pin cable. Yeah the noise / feedback loop while using the six cable plus a charger is annoying as hell. I’ll find the link for the one I’m usaing and add it to this thread. It came with another car I bought but also works with the rx8. It can be a bit finicky but the sound quality is perfect.

its called a cool stream.. but looks like they have a few different models.. the one I have is for a Mercedes and it works great but not perfect. I’m going to call them and see what we can do about a Mazda version.. I have steering wheel control functionality in my Mercedes.. let me see if I can get this working for the Mazda. If so anyone interested in a group buy? I can organize it.. the sound quality is perfect btw.. way better than I love had on other Bluetooth devices.

if they are going to need a test car... anyone want to volunteer? My interior is 95% gone.. and no steering wheel controls.

I'm having cool stream send me a tester for the Mazda to see how well it works. I'll update this thread with my findings.

Sorry for such a late update on this topic.. I was not happy with the Bluetooth device from coolstream connected to the standard head unit. Still looking for a viable solution. For now I use the aux port. The iPod kit is in the “race car” and I’ve yet to pull it out with the radio. I’ll be doing that this winter and transferring it to another car for more testing. The fact that I don’t drive the car daily is what’s slowing down development on a factory like solution. So I apologize in advance.

Is there any way to get something like a GROM or GT Car Kit to work? There must be a way to add Bluetooth to S2s. The AUX is good but it doesn't let you change songs or answer calls from the steering wheel.

@Carbon Fibr do you have xp with alpine stereos? Would you recommend them?
Sorry for being off topic.

I'm looking for a good stereo and my vote will be on the Alpine.

Now I was trying to gather as much info as possible but most review blogs are junk.
I mean they are hyping and when I've checked out some actual customer reviews the
difference is huge.

Along with my journey in review land I came across a different site. It seems to be the real deal. I mean it harshly criticizes the flaws that each brand has. This has put me on the fence. For example there's a review about Alpine w650 HU. I was eyeing this headunit.

How bad is that slow startup? Does it take 20s to boot up? What about the value for the money?

Any insights are highly appreciated
