is this what a fauly coi looks like when burnt
is this what a fauly coi looks like when burnt
rx8 has a missfire on cylender 1 and have taken coils off today and they all have a mark on bottom like a burn is this what is causing the missfire and help whould be great
NO...good coils can have them.....and bad ones might not...
There is NO correlation between that mark and the coils working
You need to check them with a HEI coil tester...looks like a spark plug with a clamp on the side of it

LOL.....lost by seconds.
Good thing it's not a competition
There are lots of things that can cause a missfire...from a faulty coil..to plugs, wires, poor ECU connections....ESS sensor with crap on it
If the coils have more than 50K miles on them...I would just change them out if you can afford it..they are reasonably cheap and easy to change....and likely do the wires and plugs as well.
