Magnaflow sells a boltup 49-state cat/midpipe setup for about $350. I'm not aware of any CARB-compliant aftermarket choices (though the Cali members may) other than OEM dealer, $1100 with core.

Not a clue. I run a metallic-substrate cat, Magnaflow #59959 on a very modified exhaust. $100 and no CEL, but I doubt it would pass a Cali sniffer or visual inspection. 20k miles on it so far.

I assume you've replaced ignition components. It's important to fix the cause of the cat failing rather than bolting a new one on and have it fail again for the same reason.

my zip is 36264
The only problem(not sure if it's an actual problem) I left it outside for a couple weeks before bringing it in the house. It looks good but it rained a lot during that time period. I doubt that would mess it up but i thought i should mention it

glad you got her fixed. I'm really not sure of the going rate. If you need a cat in the future just PM me. I'll most likely still have it since I'm not actively selling

As of the begimning of this year, sniffer test is not required for SMOG in CA only visual and functional (CEL) check.

i don't quite know what happened, but they aren't actually going to implement that until september/october, which is a HUGE bummer

HiFlite, have you dynoed the Magnaflow setup? Just wondering about restriction etc.. of the setup you have.

Thanks

Not yet. It's a good question that I would also like to know. A problem is that to get a number which made any sense, one would have to do an A/B/C comparision (Magnaflow/stock/no-cat) on the same dyno under similar conditions.

The cat from Canada (ebay) sucks. It fit but it's bent wrong in so many places.. Rattles against the frame ETC.

probably best to chop out the original cat and weld up a new Bonez cat. better quality for the same price. a bung would also have to be welded in.

You have a picture of it? I have always thought that they are bent the same, as well as, the Japanese right hand driven RX-8s.
