Angry issue revving

Hey guys, I need help. I have an 08 rx8 auto and it just started to hesitate when I rev. 2nd gear can't go past 6k rpm and in third I got stuck at 75 mph. My check engine light has been on for a code po420 which is the catalytic converter could this be causing the hesitation? Car was running mint before. Only mods are k&n intake.

Yes a bad cat would cause lots of issues including power loss, hesitation while accelerating, and engine failure. If your ignition is not up to date, you will need to change all components. Solutions to your problem could also have been easily obtained without beginning a new thread. You can do some search and reading and find out what are the causes of p0420 and how to fix the code....

It sounds like your cat is definitely bad, take it to the dealer asap and get it replaced under warranty assuming you are under 80k miles and in the US. If you keep driving it like this you will need a new engine.
