How screwed am I??

I was attempting to fix the common problem with my RX-8 heat not working. I removed the control board with no problem, but when I was unplugging the wires from the board, one of the plugs broke completely free. It is the middle plug. I have no idea what this means, but I'm sure it isn't good. Can this be fixed? Do I have to replace the whole board? How much does that cost!? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A picture would be nice.

Without a picture, I'm going to say you're good and screwed.

BC.

You need a new unit. Search, they don't cost much.

Check the for sale forums here, it's typically called the HVAC controls but they can be listed several ways. Also check with Mazmart: Your wise choice for Mazda parts. In business since 1980., Revvinsevvins.com - Home, The Partsgroup - Mazda Miata & RX8 Used Parts or some other online vendors and places such as Ebay.

OP, I gather the harness connector to control unit is OK and we are also talking about a Series 1 RX-8.2004-2008MY.

Anyway, to buy new they are not cheap, just under $400...no separate parts available just the complete unit minus any wiring.

There are two types for Series 1., one used before October 2005 and one after October 2005 Production.

FE01-61-190 Control Unit, Heater/AC up to 10/2005

FE81-61-190 Control Unit, Heater/AC from 10/2005.
