starter motor/transmission housing

Hi,

I just notice this from my car, it is an 2008 6MT. Are those hairline cracks? It is not leaking or anything, but I don't know if it is normal.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I wanted to verify that this is in fact "normal" and what the cause is?

I have the same hairline looking cacks on the starter housing of my 05 Shinka 6mt with 45k miles. I have only owned for about 8 months and have always been puzzled by these cracks.

I have done quite a bit of searching and this is the first image/post I have seen with the same issue.

Can this lead to further cracking of the transmission/starter housing?

Any info is appreciated! Thanks!
