Neutral, 0 RPM, 0 MPH everything above that goes downhill quickly.

Drive like an old lady and you can get 20-22 MPG, drive it to enjoy it and you get 16 MPG, drive it like you stole it and it gets down to 13 and under...

I am consistently getting 16MPG and I have a **** eating grin all the time.

Check tire pressure, regular tune-up and oil change are the best way to get the most gas mileage.

The rx8 is most efficient at lower RPM, driving in 6th gear at about 40 mph will get you in the High 20s for MPG. I managed about 27mpg driving through the keys but realistically there are not many roads you can do that. Just drive it like you stole it and eat out less to save money for gas.

Whoops must have logged onto the prius forum by accident.... No way someone would buy an rx-8 and then decided they want fuel economy right?!

Drive it like a granny and your engine will die because of carbon buildup (or so many people say) or drive it like it was intended to be driven, between 4 and 8,5 k rpm and your car will just smile at you and beg for more.

People here say babying the engine will kill it. So do the people at Mazda. I run my car hard every day I'm in it. Multiple redlines, cruising at 4/4,5 k rpm on the road and never had a problem.

No offense but asking an rx-8 for fuel economy is like asking a lesbian if she'd prefer co*k.
