Situations where you wish you were driving your rx8 and not your wife's/other car!

Ill start.

The other day I was driving my girlfriend's car. I was getting on the onramp and I had this saab 93 behind me who was tailgating me at 70km/h. I couldnt do anything and once we got on the freeway he gave me a dirty look and passed me from the right!!!

Arrrghhh where's your 8 when you need it!

If somebody is tailgating you just use the right indicator and let him pass.

Yeh I am aware of that but sometimes they are so close I worry they might hit me if I hit it just that little bit too much.

If it is starting to get dark or early in the morning just turn your headlights on, it lights the brakes enough to scare someone without you slowing down at all. It really doesn't have to be that dark for it to work and if they are really close to you they will notice.

Funny I was just thinking of this. A couple days ago I was in my daily driver old subaru legacy wagon at the gas station. 2 rx8 rolled in together. A white one and a blue one. Having my red one there would have made for a nice photo opportunity.

You don't want to live here then. I can give you a traffic story for nearly every day of the week. Let people do what they do, and they will soon get over themselves. I love people who yell and scream, as if the other person can hear them? Tailgaters, all you have to do is lift your foot off the gas, they will go around 99% of the time. Keep cool and everyone gets where they need to be. Two people fighting for supremacy on the highway can end badly sometimes. With people getting citations or worse innocent people dying because someone passed you and gave you the bird. It's not that serious.

All my ex's drove boring cars. Two drove new Camry's (4cyl), and one drove a Honda Pilot. The rest took the MTA. It doesn't get worst than those appliances. Though it was nice getting decent gas mileage.

Been there, done that in my miata. Little switch and you see them braking so hard they smoke their tires. Works as a great safety insurance since the avarage tailgater drives just 1foot off of you.

I like the way you think. At 25 I was pounding my hands on the steering wheel and cussing like a sailor at every idiot on the road. Now, at 45, I just laugh at the guys doing that (and the memory of my own asshattery back then).

Then I go back to enjoying my tunes, get to my destination alive and forget they ever existed. Lol

That works well for people who came up too close because they just weren't paying attention - which I find to be pretty common. It does not work at all for people who think you're going to slowly. Or highway morons who think drafting another car is a good idea.

When I am in San Diego, I drive my sister's new Civic. Whenever someone rides my ***, I keep on the throttle and yoink the e-brake for a good second. Nothing stops a tailgater like a good smoke and screech show. It's great with a front heavy FWD cars as it keeps perfect stability. Much like a dog dragging his *** on the carpet to wipe his/her butt.

Back in NY in the daily driver SUV. A big ol' Dodge Ram dualie (four huge tires) cut me off for no reason. I high beamed him, and the ******* yoinks his e-brake. I shat bricks when four huge tires locked up at 35mph.

With the RX-8, I usual swerve left and right in lane (given a safe opportunity of course) when someone tail gates me. My windows aren't tinted, so I wave my body back and forth also as if I was having some sort of drunk seizure. That works quite well.

THe daily driver SUV, I do the swerving too if brake tap doesn't work. Quite hilarious with the insane body roll. As a last resort, I would yoink the e-brake.

I was entering a round-a-bout in Cape Cod, driving the wife's Mazda Tribute with her in the passenger seat and a friend in the back. I thought "well this should be fun", about halfway around the front end started to plow so hard all she wanted to do was push herself straight to the outside....a little scary actually.
After that all I could think about was how much fun my RX8 would be, I could ride that round-a-bout all day.

Every Spring, Summer and Fall day that I drive, I would rather drive the RX8 than the Jeep.

I got into a "road rage" situation because of that. The following driver didn't appreciate the act of slowing.

this!

we need a DIY ... I suspect it's as simple as tapping into the relays in the hood and bringing a wire thru the firewall or maybe right off the switch on the pedal (is there one?) for a switch grounded to body in the dash next to the DSC button.

something else just dawned on me... I'm NEVER tailgated in my 8. Happens all the time in the beater or the wife's Odyssey but never in the 8...hmm...

must be the sweet smell of O2 in the morning. Tailgater repellent!

a little flame and watery eyes keeps the tailgaters away

We did a vacation in Vancouver this summer, live in Toronto and flew out there and rented a Sonata for the trip. The drive from Vancouver to Whistler was a mostly two lane windy road that would have been a lot of fun in the RX-8. Great road with not a lot of traffic so a lot of opportunity to wind things up a bit.

I deleted a few posts that were recommending insurance fraud or inciting violence.

Yes, we have all made the mistake of letting our emotions get the better of us on the road, but we shouldn't be encouraging people to do so.

Just hit the accelerator while you ease on the brakes.
