and if you bought it from carmax you paid WAAAY too much.

...although on the plus side they do say that they do mad inspection work, so atleast there's a good chance it is in good working order.

True, except for Carmax won't have a rotary compression tester, so you have no idea about the most important part of the car.

The carmax near me wasn't even willing to let me take the car to another mechanic to get it checked out, which is why I didn't buy anything from them.

I can't argue with that. Maybe buying from them wasn't the best idea. I figured what the hell... the mileage was so low. 4k.

Anyway I've never driven a more fun car =)

Yeah, at 4,000 miles, you shouldn't have any concerns. Was just pointing out the flaw in the assumption, in case any other newbie sees it and then sees a 140,000 mile original engine 8 at Carmax and jumps on that assumption.

Welcome aboard!

Yeah. I was pretty thorough when I read the new/potential owners thread. I won't lie, I blatantly ignored a lot of it. I don't know jack about cars... I ignored the fact that fuel economy isn't so great. It's just that I drove the car and fell in love instantly =P Hopefully I can learn enough along the way that I can maintain it well. So far I put 1000 miles on it, and checked the oil 4-5 times. I ended up putting in around 2/3 of a quart of 5w-20 (I know that's viscosity but really have no idea what those numbers mean) to keep the oil level in the middle of the two notches. I'll be looking into changing coils/wires/plugs at around 14k miles. Hopefully I won't have too many issues. I just love the car so much =) I will probably have clutch problems since I suck at driving 6-speed. We'll see...
