RB dual resonated mid-pipe - R3

sup members,
finally got time to installing the RB dual res mid-pipe,but i couldnt of done it with out the help of a couple respected hommies repin team abunai GU, thanks to jim & row for making it happen,..

with that being said.lets keep it moving.. as i wasnt the main tech to performing the job i was there fr start to finish, install time was estimated around 1 n a half with a lift. removing the oem cat wasnt so bad it was mainly that the nuts on the cat were alittle bit of a pain to R&R, it was a direct bolt on with no fabrication needed, couple parts will no longer be used such as 2 support brackets that appears to be used as a shield to protect the oem cat,and the o2 sensor shield.

on a scale of 1-5 id say 4 1/2 for easy install.i think any tom dick n harry could get this done DIY.

performed leak test. and it checked out right.... no sound clips as of now, but i could say that on idle its quit like its bone stock, but after 4-5k or wot then thats when you hear its voice sounds and it sounds really nice and clean.

Yes it removes the cat. If he does not have one now he will get one. I only get my cel every 600+ miles.

Just buy a cheap obd2 reader so you can reset it yourself. You could also buy a bluetooth obd2 reader and use your smartphone with torque or any similar app.

search the forums and you will see the umpteen discussions about why you cannot run o2 simulators on our car.

Very interested in hearing a review after a couple of months on sound levels etc - I am interested in buying one for my R3.

The CEL bothers me as well. I come from Honda/Mitsu world where the CEL mean ECU could be running in limp mode. I wish there was a sure fire way to keep the CEL away.

I am between this and BHR. The BHR can be purchased with a catalyst, but unsure if the catalyst will keep CEL away, BHR site does not clearly say if this is the case!

the BHR w/ davesport will get rid of the CEL, but you cannot use the davesport in race applications, so if you like to hit the track, opt out of it.

Blacksheep do you have an obd2 reader? If not you can buy a cheap harbor freight one and just clear the cel every time it pops up.

I found that I can make my CEL go away with one good 2nd gear pull to rev limiter lol.

I have the RB Dual too. Best upgrade. Sounds great, even with stock mufflers, and throttle response seems quicker. And when tracking, you aren't melting your catalytic.

i think the torque app does this too.

my next 100$ is being spent on a bluetooth KIWI and the torque app.

RB midpipe is coming tomorrow for me.

I would love to see some in car video so I can hear in the cabin sound levels. I would love to hear it around town then on the highway at like 70-80 MPH.

With a wide open exhaust on my RX7 it is loud and that is with a turbo. I would love to get rid of the cat on the RX8 but do not want it to be really loud in the car. I already have that with one car and it sucks sometimes.

We do a couple of 700+ mile road trips up to the Dragon and I do not feel like listening to an exhaust drone for 10+ hours.

If anyone can either comment on my concerns or take a few and make a quick video, I would be very appreciative.

If you want the best midpipe get the BHR midpipe the resonator in it will not go bad. The racing beat and pretty much every other one has some type of packing that ends up getting burnt up and they get much louder. My agency power recently had this happen and its starting to be pretty damn loud. Even with the burnt up packing it still does not drone on the highway though(the AP, anyway).

I just put in my RB mid 2 days ago. Its almost near stock sound wise from idle->4500rpm except a little louder.

after 5000+ it sounds a lot louder, but not raspy at all, just imagine..... maybe 8krpm with an oem cat = 6k with rb mid.

Im having a hard time getting used to the smell though.

I like the smell as long as I'm not directly behind the car.
