I'm having some issues. I tried posting in another thread but to no avail. Anyway here we go. At low speeds it is almost unnoticeable. But at higher speeds and turning there is a deep vibration felt throughout the car. The slightest turn of the wheel yields it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Do you have stock suspension setup?
How many miles on your car?
Hit any potholes?
Have you checked torque specs on your lugs?
Checked for any damage on tires?

 

Suspension is 100% stock
Car has 110K on it.
I avoid potholes like the plague
I haven't checked torque specs on my lugs, and I do have locking lugs as well
I have checked my tires and had them all balanced

 

Slight turn to the left loads the right front hub bearing,
Slight turn to the right loads left front hub bearing.

If you can control the Vibration by rocking the steering wheel
back and forth, check the hub bearings

 

I tried that to no avail. It didn't stop any of the vibration.

 

In your first post you say the slightest turn yields it. Is there any noise at that time?
What happens if you are cruising at 60mph, and ever so slightly apply brake pressure?
Just enough pressure that you feel the pads contact the rotors. Do you feel the VIB in the steering wheel, or in the E brake lever?

 

There is a noise. It is a rhythmical "thap thap thap" sound. And the when at cruising speeds, a slight tap of the brakes leads to the same sound/vibration. the more intense the braking, the deeper the sound and vibration.

 

Sounds like you need to re-seat the pads. How do the pads look? Are they about gone. Dought if you have warped the disks, thats hard to do. But may have high and low spots of pad material causing vibration when braking. My $2cents

how you describe the sound when braking sounds like when your pads are done and they are eating into your disk. You need to check your brake pads and rotors and you cruising while it makes that noise is an uneveness in the rotor touching the brake pad.

 

Ok, what you are describing is excessive run out on one or both rotors.
That does not mean the rear rotors are not a problem. to check them,
cruz at 60 or what ever speed, and slowly pull up on e-brake lever.
Does noise/ vibration intensify? If the answer is no, then the problem is the
front rotor/s.

You need to check and see if a caliper is hanging on the guide pins or if caliper
piston is not releasing which has caused the rotors to over heat and warp or
transfer pad material to the rotor surface creating a high spot on the rotor. (root cause)

Thanks for the help, it turns out that the rotors where semi wrapped. I just ordered a complete set and pads. Good lookin out all!!

 

Change both sides at the same time or you could end up ruining both new rotors. The pattern on one will hydraulically transfer to the other.

 

Update:

The vibration is back with a vengence. It went away after the Stoptech brake upgrade for a while, but seems to be worse now than it was before. Seems to be coming from the front, so I guess my next step will be to check/replace the wheel hub(s). Any other thoughts?
