Question got a few questionsf

hi,
This is my first post and i have a few questions for yahll.
Ive been looking lately for an rx8, because i like the uniqueness, and i like sports cars. I found one last week i passed on, it was an 04 grand touring with 93,000miles, and the man wanted $8200 for it, i went back the next day to get my dad to look at it in case i missed something. Turns out i did. It had a puddle of fresh oil under it and the crossmember and transmission were coated. I left it.
Today i found another, its an 04 also, but here is where my questions begin. Its had the engine replaced by mazda, is this a bad thing? He has the paper work for it. The car has 90,000 miles on it and hes askin 8800 for it. Its a six speed by the way, with leather interior and a sunroof. Is this too much money for a car without the original engine? What else should i look for?

Thanks in advance

Hi!

I'd type up everything here, but the reality is, I already did it once before. In order to make it easier for people to find, I put it in it's own thread, and then one of the admins made it a sticky, so it always stays near the top of the forum threads.

So rather than repeating it all here, how about you head on over to that thread and start reading it? You would read it here if I re-typed it right? Well, this saves me the trouble of retyping everything: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-forum-197/new-potential-owners-start-here-202454/

NO

I wouldn't buy a Series I without the engine replaced

Also, read the FAQ posted just up there ^

wow, that's some serious misinformation right there.

Tons of Series I out there running well.

Second, many engine replacements turned out to be bad engines.

So you would take a 2004 with a reman with 30k on it over a 2008 with an original motor with 30k on it? Great advice.
