I have had to fill my engine with engine oil near 1500-2000miles is that normal for the renesis?

I fill my oil up to the top line of the dipstick when I do my oil change and/or filter change.
If you guys need me to provide more information please tell me I'd be glad to share.

When you say you had to fill your engine, how low was the level and how much did you add ?If you have an owners manual, have a read, it will give you a rough idea of how much oil the engine consumes.

 

Never had to add oil in my 7 years of ownership, and i rev to redline whenever I hit highway.
However, some of my friends' 8 do burn out oil and some don't.
Just saying...

 

The 13B MSP is designed to burn oil.

 

I think we all know that, but my question would be more toward what makes the differences in the amount of oil it consumes.....compression? Just guessing.

 

According to mazda, the renisis can burn 1 quart of oil in 600 miles. This is word for word what they told me and the exact reason they would not honor the warranty on my engine despite having the oil changed 2300 miles earlier (and topped off 2 days earlier, but they ignored that fact).

 

The level was to where the sensors in the dashboard would light up. This is below the dipstick level.
Also, what is 13B MSP?

@Shinka: I am running everything stock I rarely redline my car either although I have read online my car was designed to be "reckless" with it.

Zero, the 13B MSP is the classification for the engine in the RX8. The oil consumption you have is normal, but, instead of waiting for the light to come on, check the oil at each gas fill up.It would be advisable to redline it at least once every time you drive it.This is to prevent excessive carbon buildup.

 

Op, since you rarely redline it, despite how much carbon buildup could be, that means ur are running at lower rpm (average) with less oil consumption...
I've seen 8 with oil all over the oil pan area...might wanna check it just in case.

I will start driving the car how it was meant to be driven.

@Freddy: I will check the oil on every fill up.

Another question, is it harmful to mix synthetic oil with non-synthetic oil together as a fill up?

I did a search on the forum about the weight of the oil not to matter when you mix them but I did not find anything about mixtures of non-synthetic with synthetic oil.

Don't think compression effects the oil consumption in anyway shape or form.
The oil is injected and the amount is controlled by the oil metering pump which gets its commands from ecu.

With the ATR we have access to two tables that will allow adjustments to the amount of oil delivered by the OMP.

Zero, concerning the mixing of Dino ans Synth, some ppl so yes and some say no, but considering when we do an oil change, there is still a few liters remaining in the oil cooler's and line's, IMO it won't be a problem.

 

So, if I see this correctly it takes about double the amount of oil at higher RPM's but who is really going to drive their car at such High RPM's constantly at long period of time?

Actually, what is the calculated load?
