Hey guys, I'm considering selling the engine and transmission out of my 04 VR GT. The combo has exactly 156,025 miles on it. The engine died about two months ago, well, died being a relative term. It won't start without a lot of convincing, and once it gets even close to operating temps, it won't hold an idle, so I have to assume that it's a bad compression motor. It will be just a core. No intake, no accessories, etc. I can ship at the potential buyers expense, though I'd rather have you come and pick it up. I kept up on the oil changes and added oil when necessary. Always ran Castrol GTX 5W-30. I think it could probably be rebuilt without replacing irons and such.

The transmission...well, it works, it's just, the 2nd, 4th, and 6th gear synchros are going. It's not popping out of gear or anything, yet. It's just if you don't rev match it just about perfect, you will get a grind or crunchy shift. This is JUST a feeler thread at this point, the combo is still in the car. I don't expect it to be in there much longer, as the engine and trans will be in Monday, 12/19/11. Just trying to see about what they'd be worth. If nothing decent I'm considering keeping and rebuilding the both of them.

That's what I'm not really sure about, I mean, I don't know how much they would be worth.

If the trans were in better condition I'd say that's fair...

You might get some bites at that price. If you still have this by spring I'll drive up and pick it up.

By the way, I ended up driving the car over to where I'm working on it. It wouldn't start on it's own power due to a weak battery, but my dad and I pull started it with his truck. Drove it 11 miles, should be a good core for a rebuild!
