Talking Looking for an awesome list of DIY's!

Hi all!

I finally registered for an account after looking through the forum for about 4-5 months! lol Well my girlfriend has a 05 Rx8 with about 108,000 on it! Judging by the last owner, regular maintainence was prob not preformed (20 year old girl :p no offense to any girls!). Car runs ok but has had its problems that sound like most of the things that happen to you guys! Car has stalled a few times, auto leveling malfunction light, overheat and there’s prob more I don’t remember! Anyways, looking for an overall list of DIY's for anything and everything to do to this car to make it run better! Also tranny acts up sometimes (runs worse when warm, but only once every couple of times she takes it out!). Also, heater core is definitely clogged up so looking to fix that as well! So if you have any DIY you think I should throw at this thing, DEFF LEMME NO! (Kind of tired of hearing how "crappy" the cars running! lol)

Thanks so much guys!
Tony

for someone lurking for so long, one would think you would have compiled a list by bookmarking what you need.

Welcome,

Check out both threads in my sig. With a car that old, do the $100 stuff first, then look for specific things. Also, pics of the car, pics of the girl, location is good so people know if they can help.

why do you need a list? there is a whole section of the forum devoted to DIY's.

If you want it to run better, without knowing what is wrong with it, you have 2 options: 1) Buy a NEW car. or 2) Replace EVERYTHING with new.

As for friendly blind suggestions, READ, SEARCH, READ, BROWSE, and READ MORE!

you started your thread IN the DIY section asking for DIY's an you are calling people who answered you "dick"?

I have moved it since its not supposed to be there as that section is only for threads that are actual DIY instructions.

all the issues you mention are covered by threads you must have read in the time you spent looking around the forum. unless you were just looking and not reading.

the master list is in the link laythor gave you above.

Before you go calling everyone a dick, SEARCH.

First, I've identified FIVE different problems you mentioned in the OP:

1) Car has stalled a few times Driver Error?
2) Auto leveling malfunction light
3) Overheat
4) Tranny acts up sometimes (runs worse when warm, but only once every couple of times she takes it out!). Very vague. HOW is it acting up? HOW is it running "worse"?
5) Heater core is definitely clogged up
.

Just to prove a point, I chose randomly number 2 and SEARCHED for "Auto Leveling Light". From this, I looked at the list of results, and the 10th line says "DIY: Headlight Auto Level Sensor Rebuild (aka Headlamp, leveling)." This sounds like EXACTLY what you wanted and said you couldn't find by searching.

Who's the DICK now?

When we see someone say "I searched, but..."

We are actually seeing, "I want a handout, someone to shovel my face full of exactly what I need without doing anything to contribute or assist, and want to soften the blow a bit so I'm going to lie through my teeth. The lie won't be all that bad if I actually did click the search button once to at least see the criteria input screen before I make the thread."

To us, YOU are the one coming across as a dick.

If you aren't going to bother reading stuff that is already posted on the forum, what makes us believe you would read it if we posted it here for you? (and considering that it actually WAS, and you still ignored it, our doubts are well founded)

Maybe that explains a thing or two?

Tony-

If the pounding you've taken (including a scold by a moderator) hasn't driven you off, I suggest that you're better off absorbing the material you've read during your lurking, rather than hope for a specific list. If you get responses with specific lists, it would be the opinion of those who responded. Browse through the archives, and you get the collective wisdom of everyone over the past eight years.

IMHO, it's in all of our best interest for you to get your girlfriend's car up to snuff. The more good-running 8s out there, then the more ours will be worth should the sad day of selling ever come.

Ken

These threads have been getting more loaded with fail lately..(And by fail, I mean, easily answered stuff and tempers flying over nothing/stupidity.)

Search, for whatever you're looking for.

An issue with say, the car stalling, just search "stalling", "stalling at light", "stalling at stop", or whatever the issue is. Or use Google to search the site.

http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en

I typed in "will it fit" in the Exact Wording or Phrase, and Rx8club.com at the bottom for the domain, and it took me to the Will It Fit Thread here on the forums.

It's a good search engine.

This is getting pretty ridiculous...All we ask is that you at least try...Don't expect the answer to be handed over to you...That is being lazy...Lazy people **** me the **** off.

As "MS Addict" said above, use google...People always complain about the forum search button...Google the phrase, and throw in rx8 next to it...it will direct you to a thread in this forum every time.
