I can think of a few uses for that........

 

iPad is used as an aditional input to the video of the system, since it has ATT 3G wifi I can stream in Hulu, Netflix, Crackle or whatever videos it has on it

Plus I had to put something there, the cargo bin that existed before made the rear seat look to plain.......

 

So, youre supposed to turn around in the seat to use it? Thats if theres passengers in the back. If youre in the front seat its pretty much useless.

 

lolwat do you somehow reach back while driving, start a movie and watch it in your rear view mirror?

 

I guess you could use the iphone as a remote for the ipad... but wt's the point... why not just stream from the iphone in the first place... lol looks clean... but sorry this is a dumb idea lol

Is there another screen that the ipad outputs to?

If it's for the use of video, wouldn't you want it in landscape mode most often? It generally looks clean, but in terms of functionality and costs, it seems a bit weird to put it there.

 

Its an output source none the less, I have a 7" indash screen plus a video integration into the nav monitor above, so it serves two purposes it provides a video output to the two screens, ties me into all my apps, also is primarialy for show, plus using apple apps such as REV, iBoost or BOV2, i now have full gauge function in my car without haveing to drill holes or mount gauges for a clean install, and I dont have to use my iphone to make it work I can use that for a phone or ipod function......

 

i commend your effort on trying to justify a forward facing video source ... but it is as useless as mounting a screen in your headrest facing forward. not sure how exactly it would be useful for gauges and such ... considering those types of these are for "monitoring" core vehicle behavior .... do you plan on looking at the ipad through the mirror?

 

I would have to agree... this seems highly... useless. Looks cool, but it's effectively pointless.

 

Guys, by using a aftermarket cable mirrors the screen display as an output, so all the gauges and monitoring information is being fed into either the front 7" screen or I can activate the factory nave screen as a gauge display......

Anything displayed on the iPad will be displayed on his Nav up front. I.e. Netflix, iTunes, various apps, etc. This allows the piece to be functional. In this case, the mounting point won't matter. As for why it is mounted where it is mounted, it' a stylistic choice good for *show points*.

Combine the functionality of this mod with the *show* aspect, and I can understand why he did it. Personally, I wouldn't, but it looks like it actually is good for something!

 

I like the SUB/AMP Setup. AWSOME! If anything I think he should have done some kind of enclosure using the glovebox, and put the Ipad they, way more accessible??

I dont know but I might PM for that Sub/Amp set up. **** is SICK and i bet knocks panties off the wimminz.
