hey guys, I'm having an odd issue with my oil and coolant light.. first the coolant light.. when i turn the car on the coolant light immediately goes on and once i start driving for a bit it'll go off. I checked the coolant and topped it off earlier today and still got the light later on. Second odd thing is my oil light; whenever i stop faster than normal my oil light will go on. it won't go on at all until i slam on the breaks and suddenly it'll just turn on and after a while it'll turn off. Do any of you know what either of these could indicate? I haven't checked my oil today but i recently filled her up so she should be pretty full right now. Thanks in advance, all info is much appreciated

For the oil light...early RX-8s had a problem with the oil pan where the light would come on even if the oil was OK. There's a TSB on that. The fix is (unfortunately) to replace the oil pan.

Yeah i have an 04 and i get both of those lights every now and then. I recently replaced my coolant tank and it included a new sensor so the light doesn't come on anymore. I still have the random oil light and will change my oil pan soon! If you get the tank from the dealer its probably going to be around 200-300 bucks but if you order online about 150 if you put on yourself. I asked the dealer to give me a quote they said 120 to put in on (hours worth of labor). Did it myself with a friends help.

 

is your oil level good?
I found on my S2 when its half quart below under hardbraking it would trigger the oil level light.
