water in the cylinders

Hi,
i have water in the cylinders and would like to get an advice.
After i discovereded a crack in the coolant reserve tank (near the cover) i have noticed that a gallon of coolant is missing. although the water temperature did not reach the red line (it was half way between regular and max temperature for a few seconds) i couldnt start the engine after fixing the crack.
When removing the bottom plugs and starting the engine, water spray out of the plug whole.
the engine has done 50000 miles.
What could be the reason for the water? Can the slight overheating be the cause?

we have no cylinders in these cars, you mean rotor housings. anyway coolant in a rotor housing would mean a coolant seal is probably bad. meaning rebuild time. are you in the us? our engine cores are under a 8yr/100,000mi warranty if you have maintance records. where are you located? yes overheating can cause this problem, rotaries can not be overheated. what year is your car, auto, stick, maintance?

Hi,
this is a 2004 manual.
i am located in Israel and the car wasnt imported through the mazda dealer so they wont/cant fix it.
i belive that i can find a skilled mechanic who could fix it but it may cost more than a new engine.
Its surprising that such minor overheating can cause the seal to fail although it may have suffered from overheating in the past (i bought it 5 months ago).
are there kits for engine rebuid or do i have to identify all parts in the catalog?

You won't know what you have to replace 'till you open the engine and see what's broken.
You'd be better off buying a remanufactured engine once you figure out how much the housings alone cost, eventually the sideplates and the shipping for these heavy components.

From time to time there are people from Israel having same issue but no one can fix it. and all of them end up bad cuz their "skilled mechanic" usually does more harm than good.

you might want to listen to bse50 and see if you can import a Remanufacture Engine from shops like Mazmart.

Thanks for the advice.
Because of birocratic isues i prefer sending my engine for rebuild through DHL.
Will the engine be stoped in customs in the US?
Any advice for rebuild expert?

Beaurocracy wise it's easier to just purchase an engine. Shipping costs are huge and you would be paying them twice.
Justifying the shipment saying that the engine needs to be rebuilt is hard, too.

Contact Mazmart before doing such a thing, you might be surprised about the shipped price

I have contacted Mazmart and waiting for their response.
another option is to ship the car to Cyprus which is not too expensive plus i get the opportunity to travel to the beautiful country.
anybody from Cyprus ? do you know who could do the rebuild there ?
