I think wires are wires.

Wires rarely "fail".

I place my bets on your CEL coming back and you having to replace the coils and/or spark plugs.

^..........With how hot our engine bay gets, I wouldn't say "wires rarely fail".
Not sure that they fail all that much statistically any more than other cars, but wires do fail.
This forum and my own experience over the years in various cars will attest to that.

Now having said all that..........it is far more likely that it was a coil and/or plug, so be on the look out for that. (That part I will agree with).

Do a search and you will find quite a few members who had Nology wires melt.

About to change my wires and looking into aftermarket ones (Nology), and now, those wires melt...forget it. I'll just replace it with oem again. Thanks for that info.
