Do RX8 owners buy carbon fiber parts ?

we are producing small amounts of carbon fiber parts for exotic cars. Don't worry I don't want to sell anything here ;O)
I'm doing some market research and would like to find out how interested RX8 owners are in carbon fiber parts for their cars.
Is there interest ?
Is there interest in the REAL, but expensive carbon ( a hood probably about $ 2500 ) or is there more interest in cheap 'fake' carbon/cevlar parts ?
Please give me your input ! Thanks !!!

Marc

I think any person that would spend $2500 on an RX-8 hood has to have their head examined. The hood is already incredibly light. Now I know saving 6 onces or whatever would translate into a .003 horsepower increase and for some that is worth it but count me as not interested. If they buy for looks go with the cheap fake.

I agree there is no need at all for a carbon fiber hood with the 8. Unless you just love the look of the hood. 2500 for it is a complete rip off. I would bet a lot of members here would want the carbon fiber trim on the dask and in other places inside the cabin.

Those prices seem to be more for the hardcore racing, sponsored, money out the bum kind of owners. Maybe you could market smaller carbon fiber accessories.

i agree totally with flatso, the hood is already so light, the use for a carbon fiber hood would be none. and $2,500 for it? you must be out of your damn mind!

I'm not into CF just for the sake of having CF or looks. If it doesn't provide a tangible performance benfit count me out.

BTW, how do you consider carbon-kevlar as "cheap fake?" From my understanding, kevlar is every bit as expensive and high tech (if not more so) as carbon fiber.

Just think if they made parts out of kevlar, we'd all could make bullet proof cars. As for the carbon fiber parts I'd like to see a market out there for them, but for 2500, ummmm no.

im interested in outer carbon fiber parts, not the hood however like it was said before, its already very light........canards would be cool though and would defenately help reduce lift at high speeds that some people talk about having, a custom carbon fiber rear diffuser would be cool too

I'd be interested in some c/f parts ie front lower lip blade, rear lower bumper section, center console, center dash area around the clock pod area.

I am more interested in silver c/f parts. I would also be interested in an APR GTC 200 wing in silver c/f.

$2500 for a hood is a little out of line. Most OE style hoods are around $500 with a nice high quality gel coat finish. Also I am not looking for weight savings but more for cosmetics.
