Northern VA driving

Even tho I have lived in the nova area in Alexandria I am looking for some good roads to drive ever since I got my '09 R3. All I know of is 123, mount vernon pkwy, and a couple of others but they are heavily patrolled.

Its Virginia. They are bad. A nice trip is down to Front Royal and do the skyline drive. Nice day trip or long weekend.

you can have a good time cruising around all the little back roads out past the town of Aldie (where rt50 and rt15 meet)

I've done that a few times, just drove around randomly and ended up in middleburg

I think the road you're referring to out that way in Aldie and Middleburg is Snikersville PKWY. Its a nicely paved road, but a lot blind driveways and the secondaries from there are mostly broken pavement. Its still a nice ride though.

The skyline parkway is heavily patrolled as well. You'll have to go south and west to find the better roads. You can actually take 50 west towards aldie, make a left onto Old Mountain Rd right past Gilbert's Corner (on 50) and you can take that all the way up and and down/across the mountain back out to 66 in Haymarket. Its a nice windy rd, pavement is so/so but it is residential in nature... so you cant get any speed safely.

You can also go up through Great Falls, lots of roads there, again.. residential though and not safe at speeds.

If you want to do some spirited driving you'll have to get out of NOVA, plain and simple...
