My Velocity Red 05 Triple Duty RX-8
My Velocity Red 05 Triple Duty RX-8
Bought this bone stock in February to replace my old track car. Wanted it to be something that could be daily driven, competitive for a specific autocross class (STX) and drive to/from track days reliably. So far, it's doing great for all of those things.
Mods:
KW V3 Coilovers
Enkei RPF1s
255/40-17 Hankook RS3's
Two Recaro SPGs
BHR Ignition
HKS Hi Power
Other minor things here and there..
Took a few boring pictures this weekend:

Love it. Looks great. Can we see some interior shots? What rails/mounts did you use for the Recaros?
What do you think think about the KW's? I had coilovers based on the v3s on my STi and absolutely loved them.

Yes, the HKS is single only. Sounds great.
The KW's have been amazing so far. Very compliant for the street and even better on track. I just put them on straight out of the box and had a very good alignment and corner balance done. I've never felt the need to tweak any of the settings, and I likely won't, until at least a season full of driving.
The seat mounts are custom at this point. They began as Corbeau bottom mounts that would accommodate for sliders and a bottom mount seat. At 6'2", and given the height of most fixed back seats that work for me, using sliders was not an option. On previous cars I have mounted side mounts directly to the seat mount, so that's what I wanted to do. I took the Corbeau mounts, which are made for very wide seats, welded 3/16" steel to the center of them to get more surface area to work with for the narrow Recaro width, and then aligned the seat. Once I had it aligned, I cut out the excess, added some extra welds for good measure, and hard-mounted Sparco steel side mounts and the Recaros themselves with standard seat mounting hardware. I had also modified the seat belt mounts and added another hole to mount lap belts for my harness. Painted it matte black, and at the end of the day, I have a completely rigid mount that gets my seats as low as physically possible without removing carpet or cutting the floor any. Driver and passenger have the same things done.
I only use the harness for autocrosses, not track days, so I do want to eventually do a roll bar.
