Mazda not honoring warranty!

My 04gt recently failed it's compression test, I then received a call from the service advisor at my Mazda who is a complete ***** and told me engine has failed compression test therefore will need a new engine, but you need 11 maintenance recepts (oil changes) for them to do it?? WTF I don't have these i only have 3 the other issue is I purchased the car in Florida and brought it into Canada so Mazda are saying they're not covering it ? This is horrible news to me they said 3000 dollars to tear the engine down to determine the real problem . I'm very upset over this

ok why are they saying you need 11? Is that how long you have owned it for where if you got oil changes done you would have 11 at this point? Also your best bet is to first try a different dealer before trying to fight them for it. Moving to Canada shouldnt change anything. It sounds like he is just trying to get out of it. If nothing else works start stomping your feet or rolling on the ground throwing a tantrum in the middle of their store. Works every time

What i know is, you don't really need receipts, you need service records or some sort of a vehicle history report on where you usually service your car for an oil change or any other service related. From your post, i think you need to find those recent owners and asked them about the service records. I think, that's the only way to solve the problem or find another Mazda dealership or call the Mazda headquarters and complain about your issue. Good luck and keep us updated about the situation.

The warranty paperwork for the extended engine warranty states you are required to provide maintenance records. This is true for any engine warranty. In that 8,000 miles did you change your oil? Do you have any records? They can only reasonably expect you to provide receipts since your obtained the car. But if you don't have any then that is your fault.

It's fairly common for a Canadian division of a company not to honor the warranty of a car you bought in the US and vice versa. Why do they do it? I don't know but it seems to be standard practice among Mazda, Mitsu, Subaru, etc.

In this case, what do you do if you do all your own oil changes?

Keep the receipts of the item bought (i.e. oil, oil filter, etc.), and video tape yourself changing the oil in your car, lol

The other thing you could do is contact a US dealer, and see if there are records in the US system for that VIN having service records.

Then beg them to send you copies.

Sometimes you can get lucky with a dealer and they will take care of everything no questions for you and sometimes this happens. All in all it is on the owner to prove that oil changes were done because if you just say you did then and cant prove it doesnt mean that it was done and even 8k miles would be detrimental to the health of the engine without an oil change.

I could say that I've been to the moonbut that doesnt make it true. Not saying that you didnt but just taking it from Mazdas perspective because im sure there are people out there that will not change the oil in a car (i.e. my sister who locked up the engine on her old saturn because she didnt take care of it and didnt change the oil for about 15k)

*generally speaking*

being a *****/get angry not gonna get you anywhere. try to call Mazda directly (I'm sure they have lines in Canada) and explain the situation, act innocent. Saying it's really not your fault, you did what you can and there is nothing more you can do about it.

if they said they can't then suggest to spit the cost, tell them how you love Mazda and it will be sad if you have to tell all your friends to stay away from the brand yada yada and local reporters probably interesting in your story.

keep all the oil receipts.
Also scan or photocopy them, since modern cash register receipts fade in time.

or try to keep it out of sunlight as much as possible.

I keep mine in a box that sits in the basement. it never sees light until I take it out. some of them are 5 years old, it fade a bit, but still good.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust those monkeys to do a whole lot. I want it done right so I do it myself.

I've sued Mazda three times, once because they were denying a warranty due to insufficient maintenance records.

They settled 2 and lost 1.

I agree, plus the fact that they are not consistent in their policies. But most won't take it that far.

A friendly letter from a lawyer might help.

Can you post your VIN?

Maybe someone on here who has access to Mazda, or spare time on their hands will make a phone call, and see what records are in the system for your car.
