Engine gone Warrenty Run Around
I bought my 2004 Rx8 in US last year I had it tested last month to find seals are gone in engine,Now I am getting a royal run around....Us says the Canadian must cover Canadian says contact us..........Canadian says us warrenty is 60,000 miles not 100,000....The dealership wants oil change records from a used vehicle...I am getting the run around can anyone advise!!!I cant afford to replace this engine.....Dealer still has it says not to drive it!!I do not know where to turn...
Youre in a tough situation thats for sure. When you bought the car you should have made sure it came with maintenance records cause of future failures like these. Especially on an 04.
No much else you can do besides either:
a) find the dealership the car was serviced at. Call and get the records.
or
b) Buy new engine and have mazda install it (going to cost you a pretty penny)
Good luck

This is a common issue especially with US vehicles. After 22 years with Mazda I can tell you the following:
Mazda Canada's warranty states clearly it is the owners responsibility to prove all the required maintenance was done. If you bought a used car you should get maintenance records, its not Mazda's issue to keep track lol. When you buy a car in the US there is no way to track maintenance through the Canadian dealer network. With Toyota I can see each repair order written by any Toyota dealer in Canada and that help immensly with warranty issues. In my experience you need to contact the US directly because the actual claim would be done through the US not Canada.
To any of you thinking you are saving huge by purchaing a US vehicle you need to understand that things like this warranty issue will happen. You also need to realize that when you decide to sell or trade this vehicle it will be worth thousands less in the Canadian marketplace for all the reasons above.
