just a heads up, your cat is covered up to 80k miles...

 

I wish it was. Both the dealership and Mazda corporate say its only covered for 7/70000 in CA. This makes my warranty up on 11/28/2010.

 

pretty sure its 8yrs/100k and that is FEDERALLY MANDATED, not up to Mazda.

 

Cat is 8/80k by federal mandate. Engine core is 8/100k and from mazda.

 

How can I verify this so I can let Mazda know. Does it matter that my car misfiring caused the cat to go bad?

Mazda corporate should know this... did you call them yourself? Or did you take the dealers word for it that they called?

 

lol I called them because i hate my dealer. Mazda told me that in CA. some models are the standard 8/80k and some are 7/70k with the RX8 falling under the latter. If anyone knows different I would love to get my cat for free instead of 1300 $s. They looked up my warranty via my VIN and told me it was 7/70k for the cat.

 

^theyre full of ****, either to to a different dealership, or call the mazda headquarters and tell them wtf...

Riverside CA. I already called corporate and they are the ones who told me the 7/70k thing.

I got mine replaced under warranty in December. I could perhaps sell you mine.
