With this meet QUICKLY approaching, I wanted to have a place for all of the caravans to post their information. If you post the details of your meet up location, I will add it to the 1st post.

This year we have 8 different states representing at WHiV so for those of you making the trek or looking to join in at the last minute, here is what is going on.



SoCal Caravan:

Alright guys, for those of you who are coming from SoCal, here is the game plan for Friday the 20th.
We're meeting up early to avoid the traffic and hopefully the CHP.


We will be meeting up at:

This is right off the 15 Freeway so you should be able to find it easily. I picked this location because it's easy to get to regardless of whether you're coming down the 91 fw, 60 fwy (from LA), or even the 10 fwy.

There appears to be a Mobil Station right off the freeway AND a Shell Station next to the BK.
We will be departing after some of us have breakfast which should be at 8:30 Make sure you are fueled up and ready to leave by then



From Ontario we will be going non-stop to Barstow where we'll top off the cars, stretch our legs for a few minutes and hit the road for VEGAS!
We should be arriving in Barstow no later then 9:30 and we'll be in Vegas around noon.

If you have two way radios (aka Walkie Talkies), make sure they're charged and bring them with you. They'll come in handy for the long drive

Also if you have a radar detector that would be a plus.
We will have attention drawn to us from the start.
Our speed will be dictated by traffic and safety.
We will not be racing to Vegas, so excessive speeding
Will not be done.

 

couldn't agree more Scremn, this is a leisurely drive to Vegas, we're not looking to set any land speed records, the goal is to enjoy the trip, get there safely, and avoid any tickets.

If possible, we'll have anyone with an RD up front and in the rear to give us maximum coverage. In the past we've maintained speeds consistent with the flow of traffic so the Radar Detectors aren't necessary, rather just a good heads up to where CHP is since a row of RX-8's will draw some attention, the last thing we need is any reasons for them to pull anybody over.

hey i am trying to work it out that I can come for at least the first day/night and head back on Saturday. I got a radar detector too. I also plan to mostly do a lot of shooting.. i'm not trying to hit the clubs or shows and what not but if anyone's interested maybe we could start setting up some times. let me know if you'd be interested.

Jedi54 ! good to be seen Ill call um and see what they say.. I need to put some miles on my 8 .. Last time it was driven hard was at Laguna Seca years ago..

Keep me posted if you hear anything.. Hopefully you will see me in Barstow I can get to Barstow much faster from Santa Barbara..

Oh,, if you are still the Zaino Master I have some spots in my Rear Deck lid that will not come out of the Clear Coat.. When I debaged my 8 and then added the Euro Spoiler the Clear coat got hit by a Rough Sprinkler before the CC dried.. Perhaps you might have an idea for me to remove it.. Or i will simply get the Deck recoated ..

 

Vegas is ALWAYS a great 'excuse' to put some good miles on our cars so you should definitely join us.
If you want to meet up in Barstow, that's cool, I think there's a few 8's meeting the caravan there anyways so it should make things easy. Two years ago a member drove in from San Luis Obispo and we found him asleep at the gas station when we pulled in.

If you do decide you're going, do me a favor and post in that thread I linked so that Phil's8 can make sure we know you're coming.
He's got a guest list, name badges, etc in the works.

 

NP, as far as i am concerned I am going.. The wife may have a different view.. But ill talk her in to it

 

UPDATE:
The time has been changed to make it easier for everyone to make it to the rendezvous locations. We're now meeting up in Ontario at 8am (instead of 7) and should be in Barstow by 9:30 am for those interested in meeting up there.
If you're joining us at either location, please let us know so we can add you to the list.

wow those are nice, yeah there are a couple places along the cruise route that should make for some really nice action photos. The path is kinda like route 66 from Kingman heading to Oatman AZ but not as tight and twisty.

Ok, reservations are set. See you in Barstow round 9:30am. Ill be packing the V1 for Fuzz Locations.. Just because its nice to know where they are at all times!
