That little black knobby, button, thingy....

...that's on the right hand side of the dash beneath the window. What is it?

This was discussed a while back, consensus seemed to be it was a Passenger airbag disable switch, that never made it to final production.

It is where the the sun sensor for the automatic climate control goes Unfortunately us Americans don't get the option. I am assuming that the button shaped thing is nothing more than a dummy cover.

I have a 2002 VW Passat and a 2003 Mazda6s, with auto climate control on both. Neither one does a very good job on auto. IMO not worth the cost.

BTW, I'm here because I covet the RX-8. Trying to decide if/when to buy.

I gave my 2002VW Passat already for the RX8 and never looked back.
