Those with Cloth Seats...wearing well?

Just curious, how are the cloth seats wearing for those who've had the car since last summer? I recall someone posting pics here showing where the seatbelt was rubbing against the material about shoulder level.

While we're at it, how're the leather seats wearing? Do they resist scratches and scuffs well?

We just got ours. We love the cloth seats. They appear fine after... uh, 200 miles! :D

I'd be interested in hearing from others, too.

Well I picked up my 8 on Oct 30th and so far the seats are doing great. I do question though the side bolsters on the bottom cushions. I think the continous rotating and sitting or rubbing and bending of this area while getting in out of the car will seriously effect longevity in this area. I do like being able to just run your hand over the knap of the fabric making it look just like new.

That was me. Unfortunately I had to return the car after I was laid off, so I can't give you a long-term report.

I've had the car since august 8th. 11,180 miles later and my cloth seats look just as good as the day I got it. The only area I have had a lot of wear on are the drivers side floormat. I've worn a groove into it from where my heels usually rest. Other than that I have had no issues with the side bolster (and I am a chunky guy hauling myself in and out of the car). I did spill a couple drops of V8 on the passenger seat once, but it cleaned off with no prob.

Had mine since July 17th, 7000+ miles. I just vacuumed out my interior the other day and went over the seats really thoroughly. Not a bit of unusual wear anywhere... and after a good vacuuming and wiping with a very slightly damp microfiber towel, they look brand new.

The only seat that really ever gets used in my car is the driver's seat, and there is no apparent difference in its wear compared to the passenger seat.

The only "gripe" (if you can even call it that) that I have with the black cloth is that lint and pet hair really show up on it... but that just makes me vacuum it more often.

I'm still waiting for someone to take their RX-8 to Wet Okole so they can take a pattern to make seat covers for the 8. I've been calling them for 2 months now and they said they won't make one until someone brings in the car and asks for it.

WHat is the purpose of seat covers? REsale value? I ccoun't see covering the seats- unless it somehow made them look better- I say let them wear out- if in fact they will even wear out, then get them covered 5 or 6 years from now if they start looking bad.

I have the cloth seats too. The bolster on the fabric driver's seat of my '95 Miata took quite a beating over the course of seven+ years, so I've been a little concerned about the 8. What sort of material are the cloth seats made of? The black portion looks rubberized or plasticized or something; maybe that will help with wear.

Has anyone tried spraying some of the stain-guard stuff on them?
