Dash Light Sequences?

I haven't been able to find anything about this in in other threads but I may have just missed it. I know that in some cars when certain dash lights come on in certain sequences or do certain things it sometime means something different then when the light just comes on. The reason that I am asking is because right now when I start my car the DSC OFF light is on and blinking while the Traction Control light (car with skid marks behind it) is on constantly. I was wondering what this could be telling me.

I have checked that I did not accidentally turn off the DSC by using the switch so that is not the cause.

I just want to find out what this could mean and what I might need to take care of if something is going wrong.

key in "on" position, turn wheel all the way left, then all the way right (or vise versa..), switch off then turn car on. Problem should be solved.
If not, let us know
