bump - getting serious...about to spring for a new one from Mazda. Help!

 

Your best bet is to look for ANY color and have it painted to match. Probability of finding one that matches color and tint is rare and it might not be in perfect condition. Paint fades over time... your hood from '04 could look WAY different than a bumper from another year and it would be obvious.

[Just saying from experience; I've had the stock and 2 aftermarket front bumper covers since I bought my 8.] I have a Shine Auto Group front bumper cover that you can have for free if you want to pay S&H from TX. It needs a little work and paint, but it's the wrong color anyway so it's a good start.
