ON Custom Stereo Place - Barrie/Toronto Area

Hi all.

I'm looking to install a new stereo system into my 2005 because I'm tired of burning discs and want to be able to use my iPod.

I went to a local place here and the mounting bracket and hardware was quoted at $300. On top of that I will be purchasing the stereo to the tune of $299. I think overall I'm looking at around $700 to get this done. While I think its worth it and can afford it...I'm always looking to save a buck.

Does anyone know of any good places, or had this done for cheaper in the Barrie or Toronto area? I don't mind making the drive if it will save me some $

Thanks!!

Are you looking for just Ipod connectivity? Cause it would be cheaper just to get the Ipod connector for the stock head unit

ON

I agree with RX804 here, i'm looking at getting the connector for my head unit as well, maybe we can organize some sort of group buy for people in ON, if enough are interested and do some kind of install session.

Getting it from mazda is hella expensive, i found a site that sells the mazda unit itself for about 150.

They also have this:

I've sent them a note inquiring if this will work with an Iphone 4G as it is not listed on their site.

Will let you know.

Luckily when I bought my car the previous owner had already gotten it installed. A good spot if you want it nice and hidden and easy to access it the in the slider arm rest. Mine is there. I Think mine is a DICE ipod connector. Works with my iphone 3G but only for playing music. It does not charge the phone for some reason. But it keeps my ipods charged.

No, I actually want to replace the stereo. Maybe its just me but...don't you find the stock stereo **** for sound off the radio too?

I also am looking at a stereo that is Bluetooth enabled for hands-free use with my Blackberry

I don't listen to the radio but I don't find nothing wrong with mine? I refuse to replace my bose setup and when you change the head unit the look of it isn't as great in my opinion. But its up to you. I have the ipod connector and I also have the parrot bluetooth module where you can talk to someone through the car speakers. If your looking to do headunit and speakers. Contact keiron at kjohn car innovations. Tell him mike with the red rx8 sent you and hell hook u up nicely

just a little advice, theres a very good chance that when you replace the factory headunit with aftermarket deck it will sound sharp and clear but you will loose on power of the mid and low range plus if you have the bose system you will loose your centre channel speaker on your dash.the only way you will better the sound quality is to use separate amps on the stock speakers (without centre speaker)and add a small sub.

i changed a buddies factory unit in his jeep for a pioneer double din, all singing all dancing unit and i warned him before i started this might happen he did not believe me so i did it and guess what happened.

i used to manage a car audio store and an experenced db dragger in my younger days and that was a problem for 9 out of 10 we changed.

without spending a small fortune just to get a little better i would do what Mazda_RX804 said and be done with it.

I didn't know that. Maybe I will just go for the iPod attachment then. I am looking to improve quality...not make it worse lol. Good thing I posted here before making any decisions! Thanks for the info!
